Fabia Est bump stops

Featured Replies

Hi,

Car went into the garage for a check up yesterday and was told that my rear bump stops had spilt. Not really wanting to pay over £100 to fit what looks like relatively cheap parts - is this an easy thing to do yourself?

There are a few posts on the forum but a bit unsure as to the procedure and part numbers.

Does a bump stop 'kit' include the plastic shock dust cover as these fell off the originals a while ago and may as well be done at the same time.

Thanks for your help,

Jim

These are easy to do yourself.

Jack car up. remove road wheel. Remove two 17mm bolts from the top of the strut & the lower 16 mm bolt. You may have to put a jack under the spring cup holder to be able to remove the lower bolt, But just compressing the shocker by hand normally suffice's. Once the shocker is off, remove the plactic cap from the top. you will see the 17 mm nut that holds the strut mounting plate in place, This needs to be removed, Do this by using a cranked ring spanner & by clamping the top of the strut with some Mole grips which you will notice is flat.

Once removed, the dust covers & bump stops will pull up & off, The bump stops just pull out of the dust covers & the New one's just push in.

Re-assemble, Reverse of above . Simples.

You don't get the dust covers as part of the bump stops, But these are plastic so shouldn't ever really need replacing unless they are damaged / broken Etc.

I do have some new bump stops for sale here ..
