fault code p0673

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I had engine manegment light on last week (56 plate fabia vrs),found a workmate with a obd scanner and it gave fault code p0637.

Googling this gave us "no 3 glow plug electical circuit" but the code (p0673) is not in any of the fault code lists on this forum.

I have checked the obvious connections on to the glow plug but the light is now back on.

Does anyone know more about this fault code or where else on the car there are connections/plugs that i could check?

Thanks dave

Remember you must make sure the component is out of circuit before you measure its resistance. Disconnect each glow plug and check the resistance of each one in turn by placing your red multimeter probe on the glow plug terminal and the black probe on battery negative. A new glow plug will normally measure around 2 ohms. Any that are very high resistance or open circuit must be replaced. Also remember that glow plugs on these cars do not operate with a continous 12 volts, so attempting to check them by connecting them directly across the battery will damage them. Be very careful when removing them, and do not force them if they won't come undone. You will almost certainly need to remove the cylinder head if one shears. If you do remove them successfully it's usually wise to re-fit them with some high temperature anti-seize paste on the threads.
