MAF sensor

Featured Replies

I have noticed recently that my car seems really sluggish through the gears and was told in another thread it could be the MAF sensor. So i tried running the car then disconnecting the MAF sensor and it didnt appear to be any different, if anything it seemed to pull better with the MAF sensor disconnected, only thing i noticed there was a small hesitation at just over 4000 rpm. Does this sound like my MAF sensor is knackered??

cheers!

Try giving the Sensor a clean with some electrical contact cleaner, They do get covered in traffic film over time, It may help, it may not but you will only know after you have done it. they are approx £65 + the vat fro a new one from the likes of TPS.

If you know someone with the same vehicle that runs fine, you could just swap for experimental purpose's, Only a Few Minutes Job ;)

4000rpm? is that not close to redline if its diesel, there is no power in the higher revs unless remapped???

When was the last time the air filter was changed? could be clogged if you have a new air filter and the problem still exists try cleaning as suggested from stackie

I do believe from Memory that the Redline starts @ 4500 & Limits @ 50000 Rpm, But as quoted, Not much point reving beyond 4k, But still there should not be a hesitation ..

The car has a tuning box on it and used to pull strongly to around 4400rpm without the hesitation. It also has a pd160 intake on it and a K&N filter seems fine. Cleaned the maf tonight as suggested above, going to stick it back on in the morning and see if there is much difference!
