high mileage VRS's pro's and cons?

Featured Replies

I'm sorry to be massively prejudicial, but your bug makes you way too cool for your job! You might be the only decent cop I've ever "met". Thanks for restoring my faith :)

Haha, cheers mate! :D

Not the first time it's been pointed out, the bug might be cool, I don't think I am!

I passed 130K last week, the last 50k of that is with my lead right foot! Only faults so far have been busted front coil spring and clutch pedal thingy broke. I've replaced all the wheel bearings and most of the bushes and ball joints. The body work is a little chipped on the front, but no rust at all, anywhere. At the last rolling road she made 179 BHP and with a compression check I get pretty much spot on 200PSI across all four pots!

The car continues to impress me everyday.

mines just clicked past 160,000 on a 51 plate with no major issues at all the only trouble ive got is the engine managemant light keps tripping with a temprature fault that i cant get to the bottom of,it still drives great.i got it five years ago with 100,000 on it and its never let me down,as long as you keep the services up they rack the miles up easily, and i dont drive it steady at all.i`ll keep it till it dies i can`t part with it.

I know someone with a 177k '51 plate Octavia vRS that he has had from new.

Original everything and returns 34mpg daily.
