Octavia - Wobbly Drivers Mirror

Featured Replies

I've notice that my driver's wing mirror wobbles a lot as I drive (the whole thing, not just the glass). It's parked on the road so I push the mirror back every night and it is quite loose when I do this (I imagine this nightly movement over 6 years could be a factor!!).

Does anyone know of a way to adjust this or is it a case of a new wing mirror?

Many thanks, in advance,

Chris

Hi,

Might be a bit obvious but have you tried tightening the screws that hold it to the car? There's 3 of them behind the inside little spaeker panel on the door. Torx heads as i remember.

The bit actually attached to the car is solid, it's the colour-coded housing that is loose. I'll go and check just in case.

Yup solid! As it was still light I popped the glass out and had a really good look and it looks like part of the tube which the spring surrounds (and to which it is secured) has broken away allowing the spring to move on one side.

New mirror!

On a seperate note I discovered that when I recently paid Skoda £650 to fix the central locking and electric windows the removed the driver's door panel and broke all the connectors holding the small speaker enclosure on. Did they replace the part? No, they glued it back on. Hands up everyone who will be visiting the dealer tomorrow?

To***rs!

I gather they didn't admit it then?
