Have a brand new pump, picked up a couple of years ago and will get around to fitting it soon. Something must tell it to operate in the first place, would like to try and sort this before thinking about ripping it out all together.

Could be a faulty N112 valve or it could be a faulty coolant temperature sensor telling the ECU the engine is cold when it's not. The ECU then sets the secondary air pump going thinking its a cold startup process. Have you checked the multiplug to the pump is not damaged or that there are not any bare wires?

Have checked that multi-plug before but that will spur me on to get that pump changed and then follow through your other suggestions.

Many thanks.....Mark.
