Importing Yeti to the USA

Featured Replies

During my most recent vacation in Europe I rented a Skoda Yeti and just loved it. I live in the USA where Skoda is not sold and I doubt it will be sold in the future. I'm thinking of maybe importing a Yeti. Would there be any problem with that? I understand that my mechanic might have to import parts if something goes wrong but isn't Skodas built using a lot of VW parts these days? What would be your suggestion?

Thanks!

Aloha Amagab,

The Yeti shares a lot of components with other VAG vehicles - notably VW as it relates to the States. Your local VW dealer would be able to service it without too many difficulties.

One of the problems you will face is that it is not likely to be tested for specific US requirements, such as side impact, it does not have US instruments with på mph and km/hr. The lighting is also not standard US, but could probably easily be changed.

You might actually consider a VW Tiguan, which is sold in the USA and in the opinions on this site is probably the next best thing to a Ãeti.

They used to sell Skodas in Canada. If they still do, wouldn't that be an easier route?
