remote central locking

Featured Replies

hi

i just took receipt of a 2001 octavia estate 4x4 elegance today. The car was brought up to Scotland from Oxford and when it arrived the guy said that although the car was advertised as having remote central locking and the key has this facility built in the actual car hadn,t been fitted with the system. The car is a repo so there was no service history. It has only done 11000 genuine miles. Would anyone know if remote central locking was fitted as standard on these cars. Also the warning light for the traction control is staying on. Anything to worry about? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

jason

car should have had remote central locking as standard.

do you know if its expensive to remedy if its a fault

depends what the fault is mate just could need keys coding to ccu otherwise fault with electronics. as for the traction control staying on shouldnt stay on. even if you press the asr switch it should reset when igntion switched on and off. needs to checked on vag com or go to your dealer.

Yes , it should have Remote locking and the fact that the key has the buttons shows this.

There is going to be a fault with either the key or the car.

Does the light work on the remote when pressing the buttons?

If not it may be flat batteries or a broken key (

Indeed, it should have remote central locking, check battery in key, then get key recoded... or replaced.. how many keys do you have?

The ESP light staying on could any number of sensors failing, from yaw, to steering potentiometer, to abs... am afraid the only real way to check is through a dealer or VAGCOm.

Best of luck...

(also owner of a 2001 4x4 eleg estate, just with a few more miles! :D)
