How do I remove (possibly) limescale from car paintwork?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm pretty new here. A few weeks ago, I went on holiday and left my Skoda Superb down the drive. All was well with the car when I returned except for where the house's water tank's overflow pipe had been slowly dripping down onto the rear end of the passenger side of the car. Despite repeated washing, the rear panel and, to a lesser extent the window above it, is still covered in what I assume are limestone deposits dried onto the car in 'rivulets' down towards the floor. I assume it's limescale as I live in a limesacle-y area but it might not be.

Could someone please advise me on how best to tackle this limescale and remove it? I can post pictures if need be.

Thanks In Advance,

Dan

I'd have thought a light abrasive polish will remove the marks, you could try some clay but I'd go with the polish option first.

Pics of the affected panels wouldn't go amiss just to clarify what your up against.

Vinegar

Well, half a bottle of sarsons, an old polishing mit and some elbow grease worked a treat thanks.

Thanks again for the advice.

Give it a rub of polish to finish it off emoticon-0148-yes.gif
