Compbrake Recirculating (Dump) Valve

Featured Replies

Been messing about on the net and noticed THIS. Alot cheaper than forge 007p. Has anyone tried them?? And are they any good?

contact damian@dpmperformance one of the site sponsors as they do them, the link in his thread doesnt work but im sure he will be able to help.

A standard plastic Bosch one is cheaper than a Forge, doesn't make it better though. You get what you pay for.The Forge OO7 is a good bit of kit,and Awesome have there own version that is cheaper.

I'm just wondering if anyone's tried one yet, never know might just be good as a forge one.

Plus i've seen a place selling them for £45 delivered

Give it a try, if its **** you can always put it on ebay

I'm thinking of going back to the OEM valve on mine as it tends to judder a bit when I come off throttle.

what have you got on yours at the moment? Trouble is this is my first turbo'd car and i'm not sure if i'd notice any problems

i have just fitted one to mine as the plastic one was leaking and it seems good, you can hear a quiet chirp when changing gear at high boost but otherwise it seems good so far.

i have only done 15 miles so far tho

Kool i think i'll give it a go, rather spend £45 than £80. If it doesnt work out as mr chicken says i can always put it it on the bay.

Is it a case me just swapping them over or do i need a fitting kit? Ain't got a clue about basic stuff lol

You can just swap them over but buy a couple of small jubilee clips (I think you'll need 35-40mm ones) as the clips on the standard DV will probably be un-usable once taken off.

I've got a Forge Split-R on mine at the moment, I think it may be leaking boost slightly though.

I had a cheap DV like the one you are looking at and had no problems, I changed over to a Forge 007p one (as I'm getting it remapped) and it does feel better and the dump sounds more crisp!? Might just be me

Seen quite a few people moaning about the split-r's, one or two people have sent them back and got 007p's instead. They need adjusting constanly apperently. Dunno if true or not just quoting stuff that i've read

It's set up alright I think and the peak boost is actually a little bit higher than I had with the OEM valve (11.3 psi instead of 10.3psi), but had a disappointing RR session the other week and a boost leak was suggested (although not got any fault codes). Annoyingly the RR didn't give me a boost plot so I might see if someone local with VagCom can do one for me.

When I first saw this post I was worried you where telling people to see me about DV's lol.

I've had one of these generic piston valves on mine for 3 years (1.7bar boost), fitted and functioned perfectly since the day it went on. I pop the top off occasinally to check the piston is moving freely and sealing properly, but haven't had to touch it, just put the top back on :)

I saw that one, only thing that makes me cautious with it is the fact that there is no mention of the company that makes them.

Got a reply from dpm performace and they sorta hinted that they were told to remove the compbrake one from their website. So it may be quite a good dump valve ;)

ahh thats the one i just bought for mine sorry not the compbrake one..

i have had lots of bits from compbrake and they are usually pretty good with most stuff. i had some hydraulic handbrake cylinders that started to leak after a year and they had them back and sent new replacements no problem

I'm gonna try the compbrake, they seem like a decent company :)

Hi

To be fair , I do believe it to be a copy of the Forge one

Forge ones are guaranteed for life , and you can get free service kits for them

Yes the ones we sell are Forge ones , with the Awesome logo on

Not much more , to me worth paying the extra for

I know the grease inside the the cheaper ones do not come with the grease that the Forge ones do

Each to their own though

Sarah

had a split-r on mine and never had any problems at all,it gives a lovely noise.
