Removing rear seat backs

Featured Replies

I want to take the rear seats out to clean the floor of the car. The seat base comes out no problem but I'm struggling with the back rest. The outside hinge pops out fine, but I cant get the central part out, it looks like you just pull on it but nothing happens. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Have searchhed through the forum but cant find anything. Thanks.

why do you need to that part out to clean the floor? :wonder:

Unlock both backrest parts and fold them over. On the right hand side of the backrest locate the catch hook and press it in with a screwdriver. Pull out the backrest parts from the clip towards the top. Finally, remove the inside parts of the backrests from the centre clip under the cap.

Well I suppose I dont really need to take them out, but cleaning the carpet from the front of the car to the boot, and the sides of to boot too, so would just make it easier. Will do the seats at the same time so may as well take the backrest out too.

Dont really know what you mean without going to have a look. Will give it a go this morning, thanks.

you will also need to unbolt the centre seatbealt anchor point

When I was running cables through for a CD changer in the boot I didn't need to - just unlatched at the side using a flat bladed screwdriver, lifted the outside ends and then slid out sideways from the middle.

Sorted, it was the centre attachment that was causing me problems, folding the seat down flat is the way, thanks ;)

No need to undo any seatbelt anchor.
