Yeti on its first Holiday

Featured Replies

Taking Yeti and caravan on its first proper holiday to the Whitby area next week, hoping to spot another Yeti still elusive here in Norfolk. Any advice on good days out in the area. and of course where to purchase the best fish and chips ?

fish and chips....u want the magpie cafe in whitby, be warned tho the queues are big'...failing that the chippy opposite the old bandstand at harbour wall is good...as for trips out, id recomend EDEN CAMP...near pickering( u will probs pass it).....great war camp museum  ...in fact i first went there with the skoda owners club in the 80's..top place...also check out goathland aka heartbeat'....only 10 miles or so from whitby, again u will probs pass by on way to whitby...and theres always the old steam railways all around there, and not forgetting the hole of holcrum( spetacular views)

Thanks Lee, looks as though the weather should be ok ,first proper visit to your county apart from work , looking forward to it . Be nice to give the Yeti a good work out as it has a easy life here with very few hills.

plenty of hills round yorkshire'...also check out robin hoods bay( nice quaint old smugglers cove)

Hi,

Quayside just down from the Magpie is very good, they also own the Royal Fisheries in Baxtergate. Could also consider Trenchers opposite the rail station, although they are a bit pricey.

Places to visit besides those mentioned by lee67 include Thornton le Dale, Pickering and Helmsley, all on the A170 and popular tourist spots.

Further south still you have Castle Howard which nestles in the Howardian Hills; quite picturesque.

Not sure if your into Walking but there's the old rail trail which runs between Goathland and Grosmont; can then catch the steam train back to Goathland. Best to undertake the walk that way round otherwise you have a steep assent.

Regards,

TP

Must be something about Yetis and holidays. Picked mine up at lunchtime. Only 30 miles from dealer to home, but enough to satisfy both myself and my wife that we had made a good choice. Car feels reassuringly sturdy, handles and rides very well. Fortunately not a single rattle yet. Obviously, I have not yet pushed it, ( no I do not mean it hasn't broken down ), but had to toe it a little to join busy A road. Any nagging doubts I had concerning 110 as opposed to 140 HP alternative, are now gone. This unit is nicely responsive. Displayed MPG - 58 point something. Very impressive for a new motor if accurate.

So having gottten us home OK, it has earned it's first holiday. Off to Cornwall at a reasonably sedate pace in the morning. M6 and M5..... that'll be us in the nearside lane then.

Great MPG must have a nice light right foot, I find the 110 hp fine, my van is 70% of kerb weight , only done a weekend away so far and 60 mph in fifth no problem enjoy your trip ,great way to get to know your new wheels.
