Body Shop - Cambridge

Featured Replies

Looking for recommendations for a decent body shop Cambridge area. I've just been a Pr£tt and scraped the rear passenger side on a wall. Gutted.

Unlucky mate, gutted for you. Not too bad I hope?

I've heard good things about Vindis' own body shop, not used them myself though:

Didn't you buy the car from them? Might be worth talking to the sales person who sold the car as he may be able to arrange some kind of discount?

Barr Tech are also highly recommended but from what others have said they also tend to be expensive:

Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers for that. I spoke to Vindis and they no longer own their own body shop. They sold it to Gladwins.

It's pretty bad. Scraped wheel arch and scratched rear door slight dent on the arch as well. My fault which is what has P!ssed me of the most.

Luckily I have protected no claims and maximum cost will be my £300 excess. Not sure thats really that lucky though.

Vindis VW on milton road have a body shop (unless this is the one they sold). For god sake do not take your car there though! If you are tempted ask me for the story by PM.

Barrtech are suppose to be very good, Just visit and see the class of cars they are looking after! They are more expensive than the average. If on insurance then the extra will not hurt as much.

If you don't mind travelling a bit further then try John Sole at Bassingbourn garage near Royston. Very good reputation, might cost a little bit more but he and his team will do a good job.

Cheers for all the replies. My insurance company have insisted that I get it done at Gladwins as their approved body shop. As the damage is over £700 according to estimates I will have to do it through insurance and only pay the excess which is £300. On the plus side they agreed to replace the anti chip film that was on it but also they are going to put a little extra on the vertical bits either side of the top front grill which I've been told is an area that gets heavily chipped after a while. Not much of a consellation really for what is an expensive mistake by myself.
