1.2TSI engine - reliability problems?

Featured Replies

i'm looking for a new car to replace my wife's Corsa, so far this new Fabia TSI looks like the preferred candidate.

my only concern relates to the engine's reliability, Are there any problem reports regarding the new 1.2TSi engine?

And what is so far the engine's reliability?

thanks. :)

939 miles and no problems as yet :)

I think there were some problems on early models with sensors, but no mechanical failures per se. Skoda issued a software update and they seem to have cleared up now though.

I think its still to early to say. The numbers out there, and their mileages, are still comparatively low. You often only really find out about an engine's flaws once its out of warranty and people start taking them to independent repairers.

It's selling well though, Skoda have made 100,000 of them already!

The dealer we bought from today said they can't make them quick enough.

Both the JD Power and Auto Express satisfaction surveys put Skoda well above Vauxhall, and the Fabia above the Corsa. There's no reason to believe that this engine is any worse than others for reliability. You and your wife will find a new Fabia a revelation after a Corsa.
