Sheet thickness when welding my Felicia ?

Featured Replies

I'm to do some bodyrepair on my Felicia, but I don't know what materialthickness to use.

Areas to be repaired: Outside panels, rear ends (15 cm), both sides, bottom left side door...

I have a choise between 0,7mm, 0,9mm and 1,25mm.

use 20swg for car repairs, which is roughly 0.9mm. anything thinner than that and you will end up blowing holes in it

Good washing machine side panels I have used in the past.

Failing that, a Motor factor / body repair shop for clean sheet metal. (Ask for advice)

i have a rwd ae86 corolla twincam that needed the floor etc patched....

i just cut the the roof off a scrapped 414i rover and welded away

i bought some 20swg from my local motor factors, a 1M x 0.5M sheet was about £5.. the hardest part is actually cutting the sheet, you will need some nice gilbows or snips to cut it.

Thanks all.

Tryed convincing my neighbour, that he needed an open-top SAAB, so I could cut off his roof :D

And I don't think my wife will be happy if I cut up the washing mashine...

I'l use the 0,9mm as a guide, and go no thinner than that.
