We were having a meal in Marlborough last night with the Yeti parked outside. A man in a Subaru Forester parked up next to us, and proceeded to get out, have a good look at our Yeti from all angles, peer through all the windows, then got back into his Subaru and drove off! That never happened even when I had my Citroen SM, one of only a few hundred in the country!

We witnessed something virtually identical yesterday. We were in Halfords at the checkout with our Yeti outside when a couple did exactly the same - looking at it from all angles and having a good peer through the windows. We were already grinning from picking it up but that really made us laugh.

They are great cars so I'm not surprised with the interest they receive.

Yes, this sort of thing has happened on a couple of occasions with my Yeti.

I have experienced this before with other new cars but quite a time ago.

I had one of the first MG Metros back in 1982 and that was quite a magnet. It was in a very similar colour to my monster - I think it was called Zircon Blue! Nice 'growly' 'A' series engine but pretty poor build quality.

The last car where I had this experience of not being able to get in it without being quizzed, was when I bought one of the first Peugeot 205 GTis back in 1984. I took it to the European Grand Prix (if my memory is correct - it could have been the British GP) at Brands Hatch and felt like I was some sort of celebrity. The car world was then buzzing about Peugeot's competitor for the Golf and people were beginning to realise what a great car it was (and still is).

I am quite pleased that the Yeti seems to be of such interest to the motoring world. I think that a lot of people who are properly into cars have a secret admiration for the underdog brand - Skoda - who now not only produce good cars but the new Yeti that has character, charm and appeal.

I received a lot of attention on the M5 last Sunday from a lady passenger in a Jaguar X type estate. The car slowed down as it passed and she appeared to approve of Boris the Yeti. I had another lady recently approach me whilst I was filling up at the petrol station. She owned a Toyota RAV4 and explained that she was about to change her car and wanted to know all about the Yeti. She liked it a lot. I have only encountered one person so far who disliked my car. He said it was the ugliest thing he had seen since the Fiat Multipla. I don't think my Yeti is ugly and our conversation was brief.

Regular occurrence, I've even had people waiting for my return to get a proper look inside, that's despite the dealer being 5 mins away. :wonder:

How is it possible for ANYTHING to be the the same ugly league as the "multiblagh!!! (That is multi, followed by a vomiting sound sound)??:o

Maybe he was on his way to Specsavers :giggle:

My experience would suggest that he'd already visited them. My cheap as chips pair of specs fell to bits within three days - never again! B)

I think Jaguar and Skoda have a fair bit in common. They both know how to design a chassis to cope with UK roads and provide good handling without ruining the ride. And they are both excellent value relative to the competition. And of course they both appeal to people with sophisticated tastes!

Had this with my Superb Estate - quite a few times now, when i come out of a hotel to get something from the car (i work as a wedding photographer) there are people around the Superb, peering in through the windows. When i approach, they say, "Sorry, just looking, it's fantastic!" had it today, popped out to get something, 2 couples, drooling over my Skoda! - there was a Saloon/Hatch version in the car park too, but it never got a look'in!

as has been said, never had this with my previous cars!

Perhaps that is because the saloon Superb is one of the gawkiest looking cars ever. Lovely nose and then it is saddled with that awful dowdy rear end. The Estate however is awesome. If we think the Yeti is value for money we have not looked at a Superb Estate yet. And in 3,2 V6 4x4 form what a Q-car! (As anyone would know that watched the last episode of Fifth Gear last week).
