Colour on Scout?

Featured Replies

Hi

(I'm new in here, and originally posted this on "introduce yourself"... I guess this is the right place).

I'm gonna buy a new Scout TDI. After some browsing I found this review (below).

However, does anybody see what colour the car has? It might be the light, but to me it looks to little silver to be Brilliant silver, and to light (and to little blue) to be Satin grey.

There's a gallery at the bottom of the page:

Cheers

Welcome Spitz! The link did not work for me so can't comment. However I have had a Satin Grey Scout for over 2 years now and still love the colour. I think it is one of the best colours for the Scout.

Thanks rKenny!

I've corrected the link and it now works for me.

Yeah - I had decided for Satin Grey, but then I looked at the pics in the link and really liked that colour.

The pics have been taken on a shady day... And I hoped experienced owners knew the colour.

That's a nice car Nick!

Thanks but it's not mine ! Mine should look the same though. Took these at a local Dealer. Mines on a Train to Germany at the mo :-)

Congratulations - Are you waiting for a Scout in Arctic Green?

Perhaps "Arctic" is the right thing - I'm currently located on Spitzergen, Svalbard. IOW - high arctic.

What about the link I posted, is it a Brilliant Silver or?

Thanks :) Yeah it's a 1.8Tsi in Arctic Green. Only about 3-4 weeks to wait ! I'm 42 and come to the conclusion that blokes never grow up !

Wow Spitzergen ! What you doing up their ? Whats the temp ? Whats the Aurora like ?

Your link....Yes it's a difficult one that. The light can be misleading ...... I THINK it's Brilliant Silver but not 100%.

I'm a scientist. Right now it's ~ 5C. The Aurora can be fantastic during the dark months :)

OK - you're also confused by the colour... SOMEONE see what it is?

That's cool, I'm also 42... using hours each day to find out about Scout and Yeti, colours etc.

How do they provide your Internet ? Aurora of course ! I'm guessing you dont have much darknes at the mo ? Do they fly you i in an Otter or something similar ?

Bit of advice. If you see a Helicopter chasing a dog and shooting at it. Get the #### out of their !! lol !

:) I'll watch out for those choppers!

We do have a fiber cable from the mainland Norway (got it a couple of years ago) providing Internet, TV channels etc. Right now, 2245 hrs, the sun is shining bright (24 hr sun from ~April 19 to mid Aug).

Longyearbyen (where I live) have 5-9 (approx.) Boeing 737 each week. When we go to Ny-Aalesund (a little research "town" in Spitzbergen) we use a small Dornier (not very different from Otter).

Spitzbergen is my reason to post my question about colours. There is no Skoda dealer up here, and I'm gonna move to mainland Norway the coming autumn. I need a car, a good car, and I want a good-looking and cool Scout :)

:) Dont think you will be dissapointed with Skoda. The Scout will be my 4th. I remember a mate getting a mk1 Octavia when they first came out and thinking he was an arse buying a Skoda ! How wrong can you be lol !

I just looked up Longyearbyen on Wikipedia. What a cool looking place. Looks like snowmobiles would be the main choice of transport for much of the year. I'd guess you would be the most Northerly Briskodian member. I'm from the South Island of New Zealand, so we couldn't be much further apart on the planet. I wonder, is there a thread that covers all the different countries where Briskodians are registered?

I've got a Scout on order for use both on and off road. I very nearly opted for Satin Grey, but in the end went for the Cappucino that features in some of the brochures I've seen. I think it will work well in this part of the world and I like the contrast between the main body colour and the bumpers. I've got 3 months or so before delivery, so am having to make do with the picture I linked to as my desktop wallpaper while I wait (my better half is giving me some serious grief over this sad, geeky behaviour :smirk: ).

Hi,

On looking at the first picture thought maybe aqua but having looked at the rest I think Nick has got it spot on with silver.

Fantastically different place to be working by the way :)

Regards,

It is more snowmobiles than people in Longyearbyen. Up here people don't talk about cars, they discuss whats the best snowmobile... Lynx, Ski-doo, Yamaha... Have not heard the word "Skoda" mentioned :)

it is really nice up here, but I guess NZ is a nice place too.

Has anyone spotted a Scout in Sahara Beige yet, it's supposed to be unique to the Scout only?

I do believe that Cappucino replaced Sahara Beige. Cappucino is not unique to Scout.

Sorry, I meant "Safari Beige", a new colour, exclusive to the Scout.

Safari beige was reintroduced for MY2011 Scouts - it's also available on the Fabia Scout. It will be interesting to see how popular it is. I would have preferred a deep petrol blue metallic similar to the VW one...

Safari beige has not replaced cappuccino; rather it is just another colour option for the Scout in addition to cappuccino. Looks to me like Safari beige is a fair bit browner than cappuccino which has more silver tones. While this brochure refers to the Fabia Scout, it does have a good picture on page 21 showing the colours quite clearly and elsewhere in the brochure a photo of a car painted safari beige (it's really beige!).

Hi,

I have just had my SCOUT 1.8TSI for 6 weeks, and I agree the Cappucino does show the bumper colour better, and more important ,does not show the dirt ,which is the main reason for choosing it .

It is a fantastic car to drive great acceleration, and very quiet. Only some tyre noise on rough surfaces, may be the Dunlop Sport Tyre's I suspect

Regards Bob Wilson.

As I currently live in an remote place without any Skoda I have to lean on pics from the net. That's not easy as some colours are totally different from pic to pic, and some likely unjust to the real thing.

Any members have a white Scout? Currently leaning towards the metallic grey colour, but white could be an "interesting" left field choice. I saw a VRS FL in white and it looked stunning. Not sure how it would look with the extra cladding which the Scout has.

Will have to decide by lunch tomorrow, thats when the order goes in to secure the VAT free deal!
