Vandals

Featured Replies

It seems I've got a nasty little vandal near me (who hasn't these days?!?!).

A few days ago I went out to the car to go to work and noticed a cigarette butt on the black plastic area just under the drivers sider wiper. Flicked it off the car thought the area looked a little odd and thought nothing more of it.

Today I washed the car and have found that the cigarette was put out on that area of plastic as it has a little crater (approximately 1cm square) with an accompanying ridge. The area is also discoloured.

It's too late to take a photo now but I've got a couple of days off later in the week so I might take one then.

The question is what do I do about it? I don't want to have to fork out for a replacement part (I'd hate to think what it would cost as it's a large piece and incorporates the washer jets).

Does anyone know anything I could use to make it less obvious? I suppose I'm lucky it's not in an obvious place but it's irritating to know it's there.

Thanks for any ideas.

Cannot help on how you may be able to repair the mindless damage, I think C.J. is the expert in this area.

I know how you feel about the damage, I had damage to drivers door mirror, rear wiper and the aerial by similar mindless trash.

I think Halfords sell DIY repair stuff for plastic panels / bumpers etc.

Might be worth a try ?

I am sorry but people like that are people that are better off shot.

Sorry to hear about it, no matter how small or big the damage is if your like me it will play on your mind until its sorted

Nah, then they'd learn nothing. Better to do the same thing they did, to their temple or forehead, long enough to leave a permanent scar :mischief:

Sorry to hear abot this Neil. Oh the ffffff..lippin scrotes. Don't you just want to see them wear a baseball bat as a scarf.

Where do you live fellah? Sounds like a fairly easy repair to me.

Have repaired a few scuttles in my time. :D

If you're too far from me, dig out the old yellow pages, and have a look in the bodyshop repair section. You'll probably find a load of SMART repairers in there that will do the job for a fairly low cost.

Do check out the cost of supplying and fitting a new one first though.

MIGHT not be as expensive as you think...on the other hand....

Thanks for that CJ. I'll see what the dealer quotes me for the part.
