Service indicator reset itself, dealer doesn't believe me !

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

As is often the case with this type of site I have gone looking for you because I have a problem which i'd like to discusss with other Skoda drivers !

My Superb TDI co. car is about 18 months old and has never "asked" for a service and has done nearly 23k miles. When I started using it in March it had done just over 18k miles and the service indicator was showing a service due in 2200 miles. I forgot about it knowing that a spanner light would come on when the service is due, anyhow I checked it a couple of weeks ago and it says 6800 miles to next service ! ?

So somehow it's reset itself or something, I told the dealer this today when I booked it in and got the response of "it can't!, I said "well, it has!" to be replied with "it can't without the skoda computer", I said " i haven't got one of those and it definately says more miles to next service than it did in March !" .........

Has anyone else experienced this ?

TIA ! :)

Not seen this on a Skoda but my wife's Corsa which was last serviced in December (annual service indicator), started asking for a service in April :wonder: Spoke to the Vauxhall dealer who serviced the car and they said this type of thing is not that uncommon; are talking Opel/Vauxhall mind :S

You can probably reset it manually.

For my Fabia, it's described in the Manual under "Service Interval Display". Basically if you hold down the trip-counter-reset button as you turn the ignition on, it removes the spanner. I've done this by accident before now when I've filled up with fuel and pushed the reset button to reset the trip mileage and turned the key at the same time.

Maybe you can do the same in a Superb with some other button?

I was wondering that, if there is a manual way to reset it I may have done it by mistake ! well, it's going in for its first service at 23k miles now :/ lol runs sweet though, no probs at all besides an occasional hesitation around 1500 RPM.

I had a Vectra C SRI for quite a while and the service lights have been known to be out of sync, its not that uncommon as you say.

Thanks for your help ! i was a little bit annoyed at how the guy in the dealership brushed it off, I nearly asked him if he was calling me a liar !

Hmmm, my 2.0 Passat does that, but only until it's warmed up a bit, I'm loath to take it in and have them play with it as I've read this complaint without solution from VW owners in North America.

I think it's a software bug myself, as i've also read a re-map kills it off totally, but VW just won't accept that.

Let me know what they find as I'm sure it's pretty well the same engine in both cars with different code names.

My superb 140 tdi has been in 3 times for the same hesitation - they found nothing! It does it when its not under a great deal of pressure - just pottering about - and only does it once in a while, but it can happen in any gear. I've decided it's just a 'feature' of the engine, but have to say the old 1.9 tdi I had in my old fabia vrs seemed to be a far better engine all round!

Spot on, 100%.
