ernieb's Yeti

Featured Replies

Well after the usual wait and not without some issues especially the ding in the door on Monday - our original pick up date - we finally have taken delivery.

They made an excellent job of the door - no issue there.

Went straight off to see our 6 year old grandson who said in a voice the whole street could hear - that's cool and gave a double tumbs up,:thumbup:

Quick drive round then home to play with things and try to fit in all the old 'stuff' we seem to carry about - all in so far!

Out Thursday for a longer drive to get a feel for the car in general but right now I'm just so pleased - I think my smile is so wide that if I nodded my head it would fall off.

Thanks for all the support over the last few months - good to be part of the forum.

Is the Gobi leather darker or lighter than you imagined, or did you see it before you ordered ???

I did see it before I ordered it but it seemed to get lighter in my mind whilst I was waiting, if that makes sense, until we picked it up today when in truth it's quite a medium tone colour.

One of the reason we picked the Gobi Sand was we did not want the sun roof and it certainly makes the inside of the car seem lighter.

Just been out to the National Trust property at Waddesdon Manor - for quick drive and lunch - managed to clock up just over 110 miles along some mixed roads with an average indicated mpg of 45.7? Engine already feels better at the finish of the run to the start.

Some very quick pics included - no Photoshop just as they came - not brilliant but gives you an idea of my SM. I do like the wheels with this model??

Sorry but I've changed the mpg figure as I read the wrong comsumtion figure off the MFD - too many options.

It's still very good but I could not rest last night thinking that it was much to high in the original post.

That is such a nice colour! It works really well with the interior you've chosen, all very tasteful in my opinion. Oh and your mention of the National Trust reminded me of one of the things I miss the most living on this side of the world. We really really miss the pleasure of visiting National Trust properties :'( .

I agree the combination colours work well.

Usually buy silver and black (or grey) - safe - saw this combination in a show room and decided it was time for a change.

Hi ernieb,

nice looking Monster you have there; been a while since we have visited Waddesdon, not a bad day out. National Trust (particularly larger estates and parks) are a bit thin on the ground round here, so visits tend to be confined to holidays emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

Very smart! And the roof rails just simply look the best in one colour. Just like the concept Yeti. To make the A-pillar and the whole roof rail look like one thing. Changing it to silver must annoy the original designer no end I'm sure!

I guess it's down to choice but like you I opted to go with the standard black rails as I think it goes well with the design of the car.

I'm not keen on chrome or similar effects unless it's in a few well defined areas - it was one of the things that put us off the iX35 that and the Yeti is a much better car.

I did ask if there was an option to change the 'silver' trays front and rear under the car - not sure what they are called - I would have much preffered them in black. But it is still a very special car, in fact, although I have bought many private and company cars over the years this is the one that has really got me on a high - and I've been around a few years.

Yep. And you chose well here in doing the defined area as the shiny Anapurnas only and keeping the rails black. It looks very, very smart I have to say.

And please people with silver rails, don't take my views personally! I'm an architect and we just have "weird" eyes for things!

Hi,

Just an update done about 1500 miles and I'm getting 49.7 mpg - so far I'm very pleased. This has been probably about 70% motorway or A class roads the balance being local roads at home, Derbyshire or Northumberland (recent holiday to Craster) Lots of hills and twisty roads - handles really well for a high (ish) sided car.

The auto lights and wipers have functioned well and I've been impressed. We both find the Yeti very comfortable to drive with good visability. A few little rattles but they seem to come and go very quickly and depend on how hard or soft you are being with the right foot - not currently an issue for us.

Radio, SD card work really well as does the BT with the phone - we used the BT phone a lot to keep track of the two cars and the sound was very clear - a real pleasure to use.

We have had lots of interest from folks in car parks or outside the cottage we booked for our week away. Our holiday cottage was located near the harbour in Craster and had a trail of people walking past the car - one bloke dragged his wife from over the road saying "that's the car I've been telling you about"?? Another time parking at the beach a guy in a Motorhome could not wait to let me park but walked by the side of the car then chatted for probably 20 minutes before his wife decided it was time for them to go? You could probably guess that is was good family sport sitting trying to predict if the next couple would look at the car. My daughter-in-law said that she could have been employed by SUK giving away brochures.

During our week we also saw our first Yeti's on the road - Black one on Holy Island Sunday 11th at noon time, Muscovado one in Alnwick Tuesday 13th around 10:30 am and on the MI south Friday 16th around 4pm - good fun Yeti spotting :giggle:

Just ordered some Gummi pflege as a precaution for the rubber seals and will probably order the protective foils. Need to catch up with all the forum items I've missed but you can see I've read those two already.

cheers

ernieb

glad to hear its all going well ernie...i get mine weds

We stayed in Seahouses, nr Craster the week before and saw a yeti going the other way, near Craster on Sunday 4th July, first I have seen since getting my car on 29th June.

Excellant car for a holiday, can see over the hedges, short enough to park easily, and often saw 60+mpg averages when touring around.

Saw anumber of people peering into the car when it was parked and one person approached my daughter when she left the beach to get something from the car, asking about it!

It is a lovely area and know Seahouses well - although it has changed over the years. Your right about the car it works well doing that kind of travelling.
