2.0 or 3.0 bar map sensor

Featured Replies

Hi ive got a hybrid pd150 turbo and im wondering what map sensor i should be running?

i believe its got a 2.0 bar on it just wondering if a 3.0 bar would be more beneficial?

isn't a 3 bar as standard on the PD130 etc? I think you have to factor in the 1 bar of atmospheric pressure which only gives scope for measuring upto 1 bar actual positive boost pressure with a 2 bar sensor, which is roughly 14.5psi??

I think its the 2 bar on the 130 could be wrong tho?

bump

It is a 3 bar map sensor, but remember boost is always +1 bar due to atmospheric pressure. :)

You only need a 4 bar map sensor if you plan to run over 2 bar sustained boost, which I would not recommend on a pd150 based turbo. My old one ran at 1.8 bar sustained, and there was no need to upgrade. My current one boosts to 2.2 bar, planned 2.4 bar, so I had to upgrade my sensor.

ah right so at 220bhp or whatever it is theres no need :)

Is adequate. I even ran my 3 bar sensor when my now expired VT5 was running 2 bar sustained. It's only once you exceed it you need to uprate.
