Emulsion Paint Removal?

Featured Replies

Well, the old dear who owned my car before didn't really take care of it. There is dents, scratches and chips everywhere, and even white paint splatters on the drivers side, just behind the door. Could anyone possibly tell me how to remove the paint splatters? I also need to remove some waxy looking substance that is stuck fast but comes off nicely when the metal is hot. Would claying be the way to remove all of the waxy stuff?

Thanks,

David.

Think it may be vinyl paint actually, emulsion would be water soluble wouldn't it.. Haha. Still, anyone have any ideas?

Probably. Not too sure on the pain splatter though. Guess it depends how big they are and what kind of paint. Will they chip off with your thumb nail? Maybe a coarse clay intended for paint over-spray could help?

Would tar and glue remover melt it?

Or some petrol on a rag and hold it against it, that should definitely melt any vinyl paint.

Doesn't come off with even scratching at it with my nail.. I've tried t-cut, what kind of petrol? Like Zippo fuel, or actual petrol? could this damage the finish?

Just as a future reference for anyone who wants to remove any paint splatter, I put a bit of T-Cut on a cotton-ended stick (like you'd use to clean your ears out) and rubbed each paint splatter vigourously until it came off. My panels are all smooth now. :) Thanks for everyones help, much obliged.

Pretty sure that AS Tardis will sort that out, had some paint splatter's on a BMW 5 Series I did a while ago that removed it with ease, can post up some pics if required............

Sure would be nice to see what the product is like, as I didn't really enjoy rubbing T-Cut right into my paintwork. :)
