Fabia vRS Gearbox Oil

Featured Replies

As above, my car is coming up to the 80K mile mark so would like to replace a few bits and pieces.

Which type of gearbox oil is required for the ASZ engined Fabias?

I believe something like this would be suitable - Clicky

Cheers

hi, can you please explain what you mean by ASZ engine? whats the difference etc? is yours an earlier model?

thanks, jordan

Fuchs oil is one of the best oils and would be ok for your Gearbox, Just use the correct grade. ASZ engines are the earlier 1.9 TDI 's up to about 2006 the last 1.9TDI's are BLT. wilsy's engine would be a 2.0 TDI, completly different.

WIlsy, as Soot1e said mine is the earlier PD130 1.9 TDI engine.

Thanks Soot1e I'll get some ordered.

I think the gearbox oil is fully synthetic 75w 90, but best to check with the dealer. :)

75w90 is the recommended but as i found out 75w80 is much better

In what way? Just smoother?

Yes much smoother especially when its cold. Usually you do get balking in 1st and 2nd when cold with 75w90. When i changed to 75w80 it got rid of the balking. It is a thinner oil and could be because it flows better,

75w80 oil is not thinner than 75w90 when it's cold.

It's thinner when it's hot.

Yohan,

I used that same Fuchs oil for a gearbox oil change on my 2001 Bora TDi Sport (with 6-speed box). It was spot on.

GSF did it for me for a reasonable price.

It's thinner when it's hot.

yes sorry i should have made that clearer.
