First 500 miles 1.2 TSI DSG

Featured Replies

Well,

I've now pipped the 500 mile mark in my new SE 1.2 DSG, and here are my observations.....

Build quality is really good, but then you knew that already. Soft touch dash and a general feel of sturdiness is really appreciated, especially after it comes after i've been driving a 15year old rdaihatsu charade around. Acceleration is actually a little too much sometimes - and i'm getting used to the turbo lag, particularly pulling away at junctions. The result is some jerkiness - seemingly I can either crawl or screech away. Hmmm. Hopefully its just me, or the car will bed in a little more. It is also possible that i'm being too gentle with it. The reason I say this is that twice it has got 'stuck' in 2nd (both Drive and Sport), and I have had to slow right down then start accelerating again to get the box to change up. Thoughts?

By way of trouble shooting, there is also occasionally a very audible rattling from the front end right hand side when I accelerate, often with the air con on, but not always. It'll be going back to the dealer as they forgot to fit my rear mud flaps (!) when it was delivered last week.

Other observations include VERY comfortable seats, great sound system, if in need of a tad more clarity. If anyone is interested my options list was as follows:

Spare wheel

Passenger seat storage (useful for sat nav bits)

Heated seats

multifunction steering wheel

curtain airbags

normal front foglights

cruise control

third rear headrest

mats

W/R to fog lights, although not cornering ones they are the full front ones, not little circular jobbies - so look very swish.

Other than that, it didnt come with TPM or rear disc breaks.

chow for now

All very interesting, thanks for the impressions. I'd consider one of these but probably with the manual box.

Glad you like the car 008. Don't worry about the sticking gearchange at the moment. If it's happened just a couple of times it's almost certainly nothing to be concerned about at this stage. It's just the newness of the box and or clutch. The clutch disc for example may be slightly sticking on it's splines when hot...this is not uncommon on any make of vehicle and usually goes away with a few more miles. There are some other things that may cause it, but don't worry. Monitor the situation and report it to the dealer if it continues...but it's my guess you won't have a problem. They are a great car.
