CAN bus adapter recommendations

Featured Replies

I own a MkII Fabia 3, 57-reg. I understand a CAN bus adapter is required to retain maximum functionality of the unit, particularly for navigation.

I also have MaxiDOT on the instrument cluster, and so I would like to retain the ability that the factory-fit Dance head unit has to repeat station names and so on on the dashboard display.

What would you recommend, and how much should I expect to need to spend?

i think its your lucky day mate......................

well believe or not no adapter is required..........................

ive put a columbus in mine works perfekt...........plug and paly... ;)

it will work with a fabia2 without the adapter, but you will have oddities. For example the navigation, which although it will work needs a canbus speed signal to work correctly. Without it, relying on GPS alone it does not update particularly well and you may miss a turn as a result. At least one forum member has tried to use a columbus in a roomster and gave up and sold it once he got fed up with that and the other features that rely on the not present canbus.

it may also be the case that the facelift fabia has an updated canbus system which a 57 reg car will not have.

But does the navigation work properly in yours?

Does yours have MaxiDOT?

What do you mean by the navi arrows? Do you mean the repeat feature on the dashboard display?

And what needs coding? And by whom?
