Wheel alignment issues

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Octy is now 8 weeks old and I have covered 3900 miles. I noticed my car not tracking true and decided to take it down to my local tyre place. They put it on the laser alignment system and my alignment was all to ****.

I rang the dealer and they said they were far too busy to look at it for me today :wonder: and it would be Tuesday at the earliest.

Now I use my car for work and I am away to coventry tomorrow on business so I wanted it sorted ASAP so I let the tyre place do it at a charge of £45.

I have before and after printouts and I want Skoda to re-imburse me for the costs!

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys

I reckon you'll have a fight on your hands, they'll just claim you must have knocked it out on a kerb or pothole etc...

Good luck though

Well they are more than welcome to inspect the tyres and the car for any damage, the thing has honestly just been up and down the A1 for 8 weeks solid :giggle:

I'll keep you updated on what happens though, cheers

Post up the readings!

Steering geometry adjustments are covered by warranty for six months or 6,500 miles, but I don't think that covers wheel alignment....

Please also note that wheel balancing and wheel

alignment will not be carried out under the terms

of your warranty, as the frequency with which this

needs to be done depends on driving technique

and road conditions.

That aside, it'd be unusual for them to pay out for work carried out by a third party, especially when they haven't seen the fault. They would only have been able to claim the cost of the repair back from Skoda HQ if they carried out the work themselves.

Its sorted now :D The dealer said they wouldn't cover it under warranty, but I kicked up a bit of a fuss and they are going to fill the car with petrol for me

Can't really grumble to be fair, they were very good B)

Good result!

Sounds like you've got a decent dealer there, well done them...

Hopefully many miles of pull-free, vibrationless driving now :)
