Thinking of going down the test drive route in order to buy a Yeti but just a couple of daft questions to satisfy my curiosity.

1.When the car is locked is there a flashing LED to warn that the alarm system is armed?.

2.What is the min/max temp' range for the climate control and how well does the system perform?.

Thanks for any replies.

Don't test drive it unless you are really serious. You'll end up buying one! I bought my ex demo having had no intention of changing from my Octavia. Dealer cleverly lent me a Yeti when my wife's Roomster was in for service. The rest is history.

1. There is a flashing led but it's only really noticeable in the dark.

2. The temperature range starts with 'Cool' then from 16 to (I think) 28 celsius and then 'hot'. Works very well at keeping things cool in summer and warm in winter. I have mine set at 19 the whole time and switch the aircon on to chill things down or to clear the screen in winter. I think its slightly better than the system in my old Octavia 2 Elegance. Definitely better than any system I have ever experienced in Jaguars or Mercedes. My next door neighbour likes the system in his new Bentley but as that looks to be very similar to that fitted in my humble Skoda then I'm not surprised. Don't forget the Elegance spec includes heated front seats and they are lovely at 5 am on a winter morning

Hi,

1) On my CR170 Elegance unlocking using the remote flashes the indicators including the ones in the door mirrors twice and the caged canary under the bonnet chirps twice. Locking gives one flash and one chirp.

2) Best aircon/climate control I've had and on Elegance at least there's dual zone control. I keep mine on 19 and my wife has hers on 22, works well. Also doesn't seem to impact much on fuel consumption or engine power whereas on my Volvo V40 you could feel the loss of power when you switched the aircon on.

Oh no!-not the dreaded chirping/bleeping every time you lock/unlock the doors. Are the sounds very loud, can they be switched off?..

I would rather have the 'chirps'. as you can clearly hear them when you cant see your lights due to too many obstacles in the way of too much bright sunshine

With the maxidot on the Elegance, this is easily switched on or off.

Thanks for all the info',websites like this are excellent.

I would like to turn my chirps off but I have no maxidot. I would also like to set my remote so that all of the doors unlock with the first press of the button. Ah, the trials of the budget motorist..........

Can't the dealer do it Shrub?

Or someone near you with a VCDS cable...

Autocar are having the same 'problem' with their SE. I'm sure it's a pretty quick Dealer 'fix' for cars not having Maxidot..

Yes, the dealer would be able to change the settings but they will undoubtedly charge for it. Nothing I can't live with and so I shall just make sure that I buy a maxidot computer next time........

I noticed the story in this weeks Autocar.Apart from the alarm chirps the driver also complains about the 'multiple pressing of the key fob to gain access to the boot or rear seats'.What is he talking about?.

The locks have probably been set to open the drivers door on first press then all the other doors on a second press, the boot also has a release button on the key fob, this is done as a security measure to stop people sneaking in your car whilst you have your back turned like filling up at a pay at the pump petrol station etc. on cars with maxidot and I think the SE has this the settings can be altered to the normal all doors open on 1 press setting. My car came set up as standard with the drivers door only opening and I had to change it on the menu.

The flashing light on the door is pretty much the same as other VWs Audis. It works fine, easy to see if the car is locked and primed. The chirp is quite subtle, not the Dambusters theme or anything like that. In fact the alarm is not that loud either.

Yesterday it was very hot, the air con was on all the time and worked well, the fan is quiet and it was so cold that it cracked my windscreen due to the contrast with the temp outside. That's what I think caused it anyway, who knows, time will tell.

I was thinking of going for the 140bhp diesel engine or should I stick with the 1.8 petrol-I only do 5k miles a year and do not want to start getting DPF problems.Or are the new common rail engines less prone to the DPF saga?.
