Doe anybody know how to remove the console between the seats as my central locking button has ceased functioning (bloody stupid place to put it anyway, right beside cupholders). I've had a poke around but can't figure out how to get it out. Thanks for any advice.

Pull the plactic gear gaither off mate, put your hand thru and pull the wire and unclip it.

Dead easy remove gear lever gator and press the switch downwards through the hole its fitted in and you can pull the switch and cable through the gear lever hole. replacement is in reverse. no need to remove the centre console!

Sorry, should have mentioned I've a DSG, doesn't seem to be enough room around shift mechanism to get fingers in.
