Service and maintenance plan

Featured Replies

I've got a Fabia S on order as I need something to get me from A to B without fuss and will be doing about 10,000 miles a year. I picked up a booklet at the dealers with a choice between a service plan or service and maintenance plan.

I don't know whether or not to sign up for one or the other so I thought I'd ask on here if anybody has any ideas on them, have others taken up one and are they worth it? Thanks in advance.

looking at the prices, you make a saving and can spread the payment, but you only make a saving if your using skoda, id rather use my normal garage, where it would be a lot cheaper, to spread the payment, just put a bit asaide each month

Prices I've been given are ten pounds something monthly for service plan and seventeen pounds something monthly for service and maintenance based on 36000 miles over three years. So maximum of £396 for servicing and £648 for servicing and maintenance.

I have only recently moved and don't know which garages in this area to trust. (My brother in law used to do all my servicing/maintenance in his garage for free/cost so don't know what normal prices would be).

tricky situation, ask around at work and the local, word of mouth is always a strong source, i think dealers are really expensive

It's the expenses part that I'm thinking of. If the plans include labour charges then I might be inclined to go for it.

What is the difference between the service plan and the Service & Maintenance plan?

As the car comes with a 3 year warranty, there should only be service required!

Id rather pay 'up front' for one of these deals , like MINI TLC , rather than every month - is there not an option to do it that way?

Yes, you can pay up front by paying the equivalent of 36 x monthly dd (and you can terminate with 28 days notice).

Looking further at it, the service plan seems not too bad but that depends on how much paying on the day for service costs. Most of the things on the maintenance plan are, I would assume, covered by the warranty.
