VRS & Bolero

Featured Replies

Excuse my ignorance, i'm a little confused regarding Mobile Phone prep.

Does the Bolero come setup for Bluetooth or is there an option I haven't spotted in the brochure?

Thanks

As far as I know it is bluetooth prepared but you have to order the extra "box" that fits under the drivers seat.

This is for the UK.

From what I understand it comes standard in the Irish vRS ( Which I will know soon enough when I get my one )emoticon-0148-yes.gif

For some reason unknown to man, Skoda UK have decided that you can only order the factory fit bluetooth on the DSG vRS... However, it can be retrofitted by someone like Ben at Shark Performance to any vRS...

How bizarre! Cheers for that.

Any order numbers / description on this "box"? I have seen the replacement headlining unit which fits and provides access via Bluetooth to the phone - but no H/U integration.

I was planning on buying and fitting a Columbus H/U - Do these have Bluetooth fitted, or do I still need to buy this magical box?

You still need a bluetooth module, either one of the Skoda ones or a Fiscon unit if you want H/U integration (there may be others but these are the only ones I know of). I don't know the part numbers I'm afraid.

The Bolero/Columbus only act as the user interface for the bluetooth module, neither have the bluetooth built in.

I knew the Skoda Premium GSM III Bluetooth unit wouldn't work with my phone so didn't order it and had a Fiscon unit fitted 4 days after I collected my car from the dealer

Raglits, who did this for you and how much was it if you don't mind my asking?

I used Autotronics in Leicester (I wasn't living in Birmingham at the time) and it was £400 fitted, and yes, I'd use them again.

The actual fitting of the unit doesn't look difficult at all, but you'll need someone with VCDS to code the car for you if you fit it yourself

Having investigated Bluetooth connectivity for my upcomming vRS, it appears that if you havent specified factory fit, there are Parrot & Dension units are around that can be cheaper that having the Skoda unit retrofitted, & depending on the unit will play your 'pod'.

I really cannot see the point of adding units that play the pods, given there is a cd changer & sd slot in the HU, along with a 3.5mm jack in the Jumbobox.

I have a Parrot kit in my current Lexus, it's ok but not perfect to be honest. I would prefer full integration which is unavailable as an option unless you have a DSG box and a MFSW. I think I will be talking to Ben at Shark in November!

Be aware of compatibility issues with built in systems (refer to manual), I didn’t want to take the risk so has a BURY system fitted with Voice control and Touch screen. It’s connected to the Bolero for music play back, muting and music pause.

The Bury is a very good System as it can operate up to 4 phones at the same time (bit OTT but I needed 2 for personal and work phone) also it remembers them so if the GF uses the car with here iphone she can also play music from the phone via the Bury to the Bolero etc.

Where did you mount the screen? I've just bought their CC 9060 and was going to mount to a no-holes bracket by the central vents. Not sure where to route the cable for it though.

Cheers,

Steve

Luckily I didn’t fit it... I had a professional do it for me.

Haha OK, no worries :)

Hmmm, seen that location for the mount before, but I really want it in the centre of the car. That does make cable routing a little difficult though.

Steve

I have my bury screen fitted in the same location. It is easy to see and reach and out of the way of anything else. I would also give the Bury kit a big thumbs up. It is an easy to use bit of kit with a lot of functionality with the only downside being that it is not the loudest through the speakers (adequate but needs to be turned up to almost full).

I have my mic fitted on the pillar at the moment but how do you find the central location? Does it cut down on the noise it picks up from the car?

Here in Slovenia I order factory fit option: Bolero with GSM II (BLUETOOTH), which is full integration . The code is PT4.

With my Samsung Omnia works perfectly.
