Congrats Llanigraham!!! Glad you are joining the fold.
I've seen the signs at local (and not so local) Shell forecourts - "New more efficient fuels" - then in smaller print "coming soon".

Has the new fuel been released yet ?
Put it in my tank yesterday - or so I was told!!! It is mixed with the old stuff so no noticable difference. BUT, if it works, Watch out Clarkeson!

pick it up on the 30th!!

Great stuff, Graham. Chuffed for you and Sheila. Well done.

Ta George. We just need to organise the Yeti folk band now!!

ignoring all references to that band that had a similar name in the 70's

I can play the spoons and do a mean solo on my ear trumpet.

I also play this but it is too heavy to shift in a Yeti.

Hi Terfyn,

put two lots of 40 litres in since Thursday, not sure if I've detected any difference :wonder: Just got back from a week in North Wales; with four adults and a lot of incline work the fuel consumption has been struggling to break into the 40's (indicated) although I did get a 68 for a while on a long descent stuck behind slower traffic.

Oh also found the pre WK45/09 brakes work very well, trying to avoid a sheep that had blended itself into the double white line down the middle of the road :S

Also good to see Graham has at last joined the Monster club; nice looking motor :) Flashed and waved to a very similar one (inc reg) on the A5 on Wednesday and again on Thursday, although I'm not sure if they were the same Monster on both occasions. Did get a wave back on Thursday B)

Regards,

TP

I am getting 44 -45 on normal driving around here - peaked at 48. No noticable difference using the Shell new fuel but will see what a longer drive to Manchester shows up.

What bit of North Wales TP? Didn't see any Postman Pat vans around here (except the real ones delivering my quota of bills and junk) The Yeti likes the open roads and low traffic volumes, it is less happy in queues. Got stuck in the Friday night jam on the M56 last week and we crawled along for an hour covering 15 miles - it shot the fuel consumption to pieces (32 mpg for the journey that normally returns 40-43)

Less than 12 hours for Graham. Hope the hand over goes well!! and the SM comes up to expectations. Will expect to read your thoughts when I return from Manchester.

have fun tomoz graham

Hi Terfyn,

we were staying at a National Trust cottage just outside Ysbyty Ifan near Betws-y-Coed. Fantastic scenery up there when it was not shrouded in mist or low cloud :)

Visited or past through places such as Harlech, Barmouth, Dolgellau, Lanberis, Conway, Llangollen, Chirk and obviously Betws-y-Coed.

Regards,

For Graham,

have a great day tomorrow and hope you can sleep tonight :giggle: Look forward to your thoughts on Monster ownership and of course some nice pics :)

Well Graham

Have you got it? Did it drive nicely? Are the lights working? Is the air-con good? Did you enjoy the Bolero? Were you comfy? What mpg did you get? How far was the journey? Have you taken any pics yet? Why not? Have you cleaned it yet? Is it in the garage? Are you sleeping in it tonight? Where are you going in it tomorrow?

As you can see - there are questions, and we will all expect answers asap!!

Hope all went well today and that you are truly chuffed to bits with your acquisition.

Probably too busy driving to waste time on a computer!

But, when you have lived with a Land Rover product for so many years, the realisation that this is a new world of quality and sophistication takes some getting used to!!! (Only Joking)

Yes, collected it yesterday afternoon with no problems until I got home and tried the spare key which didn't work! Rang the garage and they realised they had given me the wrong one so the salesman is driving over here tomorrow morning to swop them over

Excellent drive. Better performance than the Freelander and more comfortable. Sound system is also better, now that I've worked out how to use it.

Yes, all of them. Love the DRL's, even if some pillock did tell me my fogs were on!!

Excellent and better distribution than the FL, plus it should stop Sheila moaning it is too cold with the possibility of her having different.

Yes, now I've worked out how to use it!! Haven't tried any Steeleye yet though!

Very. Once I'd got everything adjusted right I was surprised how comfortable it was. Tried the back seats this morning and they seem very good. Love the adjustment available there.

Not sure, haven't worked that out yet, but I filled up in Newtown on the way home so can now start checking. As it has only done 2500 I expect it to be tight still, but reckon I've got to prove how good I am, after my figures with the FL. Going for 55mpg on a tank full first!

From Bridgnorth to Ludlow and home, so about 65 miles. Handles well!!

No photos yet, but give me time. Might try some at work tomorrow night

Clean it.....why? It will only get dirty again!!

Garage? Sorry I do not understand this word. Can you explain?

No we haven't fallen out about it yet! :giggle:

It has sat outside the shop today, whilst I had a fiddle and fitted some bits, so no where I'm afraid.

Couple of observations.

Not as much cubby holes inside as the FL, but then I probably carried too much rubbish anyway.

Boot is bigger but I need to sort out all the rubbish I carry around with me. Im sure I don't need it all!

Thought I could get my phone to "talk" to it but now realise I don't have the right system so have had to stick a phone holder to the dash, and there isn't much room for it.

Overall I LOVE IT!!

And Sheila is pleased and does quite like the colour.

Re the phone holder - I suggest you go for the Brodit Proclip. Expensive but (in my opinion) well worth the extra. I have used the "third" option (shown on the Brodit site) and put the holder next to the radio on the passengers side, the phone is within easy reach and can be seen from your driving position. Also it is easy to use the phone charger in the cig lit socket and it is well out of the way of passenger legs and the pocket door. The Proclip is a doddle to fit and took just five minutes. An extra benefit is that you can change the phone holder to match your current phone. As I swap my phone as soon as Orange let me, this option will be useful. I don't think, with this set up, a permanent wiring system is necessary.

The Blutooth option is £400 from Skoda and there are plenty of easy to fit Blutooth amps - mine clips to the sun screen just above my head and recharges from the cig lit socket.

Pleased you love it!!

As to fuel consumption, I have the older 140 engine and I got 47-48 mpg average to and from Manchester yesterday. I am using the new Shell fuel but I believe the better mpg figures are due the a looser engine (>9000 miles)

The split heating control system is soooo useful. Ann is convinced the third ice age is coming and has her control two notches greater than mine. My preference is to use the "direction" buttons and set the fan speed but, in truth, AUTO works very well. The Defrost is quite effective on the screen (I use it with "internal circulation" set) but the engine does take a long time to warm up.

You have been very quiet about your new SM - how is it going? Do you still like it?

One veryy minor thing that bugs me. When I open the rear doors after rain, a gutter, on top of the door which collects the water to stop it going into the car, discharges a cupfull of the wet stuff over anyone stupid enough (me) to stand in its way when the door is opened!!emoticon-0120-doh.gif

Hi Terfyn,

funny you should mention the rear door and rain. Noticed for the first time while in Wales that leaving the rear hatch door open for any length of time in heavy rain, then the numberplate recess fills with water and has the same effect as you describe when you close it :S

Oh and I think this might have also lead to intermittent weird goings on with the central locking; water getting in the electronic boot release :wonder: as it's not happened since (fingers X)

TP

All going well.

I've only driven it to and from work so far, but we are off to friends in North Wales for dinner tonight, so it will get a bit of a longer run, and then I'm doing radio on a rally on Sunday.

Fuel consumption seems to be averaging out around the 49 - 52 mpg level at the moment, which I'm very pleased with. I'm still trying to work out all the "bits" in Maxidot! Still can't get over how well it corners, but find that in 6th I need to ease off even earlier, and it needs a change down into 5th often to pull away.

I remember someone saying about the rain "problem", so kept well out of the way of it.

An invasion of Snow Monsters into my peaceful part of the world! Don't forget to wave as you pass. :cocktail: Enjoy your dinner :coffee: I find there is little pull below 1500 rpm so a change down is often needed. Fifth is the gear I use most on these roads round here. (Except when following the "incomers" - then third is usually more appropriate.emoticon-0179-headbang.gif )

Priceless! The "incomers"! Oh I love being an incomer! I love Wales... I so miss proper mountains.

And with a Yeti 140 Elegance, you will be in good company around here.

Thanks. I can't wait... So many sleeps until November. emoticon-0120-doh.gif So jealous of Graham getting his so quick!

But looking forward to the next Wales Adventure!

yeah - and we're watching down here in MID-WALES too!!
