1.4TSI now available

Featured Replies

You chaps might already know but the 1.4TSi 122bhp is now available in S, SE, and Elegance trim levels.

I think it'll suit the Yeti very well, it's only available as a manual at the moment.

Now that is great news for prospective buyers! This will be a peach of a car if you want petrol. I see 1,2 manual sales taking a nose-dive very soon.

No prices yet it seems. Will be interesting to see what the price premium is over the 1.2. Especially as I think I'd struggle to see where the 1.2 is lacking, and how another 17 bhp might make the car any better.

I suppose it could be that, perversley, the 1.4 might have better economy than the 1.2 because, at high loads anyway, it would not be working as hard as the 1.2? We will see.

It will also be interesting whether this is a precursor to dropping the 1.2 in due course. Again, a wait and see.

I assume that the 1.4 will be front wheel drive?

I think there will still be a market for the 1.2TSi, it drives so much better than people expect.

Yes it's two wheel drive only, I should have mentioned that in the first post.

Hi James,

Good news on the availability and pricing of the 1.4TSIs, but could you confirm the combined mpg and CO2 figures are correct?

I'd heard the CO2 was 176 so 159 is a great figure if correct, but the combined mpg seems surprisingly high - it's far worse than the 1.8TSI 4x4 even, and seems to be the only Yeti figures where the combined mpg is worse that the urban mpg. (And as the CO2 figures and fuel consumption are obviously related it seems wrong the the CO2 is better than expected while the combined mpg is worse!)

Thanks

Chris

DSG?

I think the combined is meant to be 41.7.

It's great to have another engine to chose from but that's a pretty hefty price premium over the 1.2....

I've now checked with the Skoda Auto website and see that their updated Yeti brochure confirms the 159 g/km CO2 figures, but swaps the Urban and combined mpg figures - so I think the 1.4TSi has an Urban 31.7 mpg and a combined 41. 5 mpg. Much better!!!

I've just checked in the German Yeti brochure and the city consumption is 8.9l/100km. They got combined and urban mixed up in the dealer info sheet.

Just more proof that the people working for SUK has but zero interest in cars...

Interesting news about the 1.4TSI. The emissions and fuel consumption are slightly worse than a Tiguan Bluemotion with the 1.4TSI 150bhp engine which has a supercharger and a turbo. I guess the stop/start in the Tiguan must make the difference. The Yeti's list price is quite a bit less though.

I hope I will be happy with my just ordered 1.4 tsi. To be honest I was quite surprise that the 1.8 I tested wasn't all that fast as I expected. Maybe it was due to the extra mass?

The 1.8 is also 4x4 of course so there will be some extra drag compared with the front wheel drive 1.4 TSI.
