Anyone Fancy an Off-road Day in South Yorkshire?

Featured Replies

Last weekend there were signs all round the local roads saying "Yorks and Lincs 4x4 Response". I found their website and discovered they were having a weekend meet very close to where I live at Frickley 4x4 Offroad Centre. Their website is www.frickley4x4.co.uk . There are some scary photos of modified vehicles tackling some very serious terrain but they say they also cater for "regular road legal vehicles. You can just turn up and play for £25 a day or they can organise club days. Camping with facilities is also available. I quite fancy having a go at this in the Yeti, although not the tracks with four feet deep watercourses!!!! I might go myself as it's only a few miles away but maybe we could organise a Yeti day. For me that would have to be September onwards as I'm going to be away from next week until then. If anyone is interested I can give them a ring or call in and find out more and report on what the facilities are like.

I'm also interested. Only having two-whhel drive might not be too much of a disadvantage as you still have the ground clearance.

Why not go and volunteer to join the 4x4 Response Team? That way you will probably get free off-road tuition from properly trained members, get training in other areas as well, and put something back into the Community.

I can assure you that the 4x4 Yeti would be perfectly capable of doing most of the jobs that 4x4 Response gets called out on.

Good idea Graham. One reason for going to an off-road centre would be to practice using the Yeti with the Offroad button on to see how I get on with it but some tuition would be good too, I wouldn't even mind paying for it. I'm off on holiday next week but I'll do some more research into 4x4 response when I get back.

Stewart,

I don't know the Group up there, but certainly our lot in Wales hold regular training days, which are good fun. Don't be put off by some of the more "extreme" vehicles you will see. Having seen how the Yeti copes off-road it will be perfectly capable of doing most of the jobs they get called out on.
