brake fluid change

Featured Replies

Has any one used pressure bleeding kit that goes on spare tyre for there brake fluid change if so are they any good/ easy to use thanks

Not used one on my Octy but used to use one on previous cars - as long as you make sure the cap is tight on the master cylinder, and you keep it topped up then the make the job a really easy one man job.

Just make sure you keep it clean between uses and always use a new unopened can of fluid, never use old or stored fluid as it absorbs moisture over time

Also best use the spare for the air pressure rather than a front tyre, unless you check the pressure and pump up before driving off

Ditto. I've used a Halfords pressure kit for quite a few years with excellent results . It sure beats pedal pumping . Also there's no risk of reversing the master cylinder seals. There's no need to exceed 20 p.s.i. as it only leads to leaks and is not required to push the fluid through. The kit should last a lifetime's use so should save quite a bit of cash and gives the satisfaction of a job well done ! If you have only used the pedal pumping method in the past you will wonder why you didn't change to the pressure kit ages ago ! I know I did . I keep an old wheel / tyre at 20psi for this purpose. The kit will pay for itself in the first application.

i have a gunson kit that fits the spare wheel for pressure.

works really well, as long as the adaptors fit your master cylinder. takes a while to clean afterwards, which is ver necessary as the brake fluid, even a little bit left in the tubes, ruins them. amazing choice of materials.

actually use a mityvac now mostly.
