Relays

Featured Replies

hi i have a fabia MK1 1.9.tdi

I have had problems with the warning light on the dash comming on, so read the code and got

17932 - Fuel Pump Relay (J17): Open or Short to Ground

P1524 - 35-00 - -

The engine has cut out on me twice now so i figure it's time i fixed it.

But the problem is after i dismantled half the dash to get to the relays in the car i can't tell which one the relays the fuel pump relay is.

does anyone know how to identify which one it is? I thought about just pulling a relay as seeing what it does but thought that might be a little risky.

i know it says j17 in the fault code but not sure if thats the location on the relay or just something else

there isn't many relays (4 i think) so can anyone help?

cheers

Tom

I believe the correct one is top right (number 4).

What year is your model to check for certain?

it's an 04 plate i belive it was just before they changed the models slightly as i don't have AC in mine but ti think they changed it to a standard on the comfort in 2004

are the relays faily generic or is it done on amps etc?

really appreciate the help

cheers

Yep the convention seems to be to use number 4. No idea on whether they are standard relays or not unfortunately.

Thats great, i'll keep the pic for future use, why don't skoda or haynes just put this in the manual? would have saved me quite a bit of time.

I think i have a relay that will replace it, i'll give it a go and see what happens

thanks again.
