Airbag light on? - a top tip

Featured Replies

Recently my Airbag light came on for no reason. Did the usual (checked wires etc)

Found out it wasn't covered by warranty so I took it to an independent vw specialist.

He plugged in Vag-com and it showed drives side, side airbag sensor! He fitted a new one (over two hours work) and light still stayed on.

He didn't charge me because he couldn't cure the problem.(I paid for the sensor so he wouldn't be out of pocket)

By chance my Ma-in-laws neighbours brother works for a Skoda dealer so we asked him.

Straight away he said it was a broken yellow wire between the door and the car body, in the concertinaed plastic sleeve. Sure enough the wire was broken.

I soldered the wire, had the fault cleared by Vag-com and light went out.

Hope this is some use to someone.

P.S why is the search function on this website now so bad, you can't find anything.....

its easier to search the forum using google mate, just put Briskoda in the search

Just followed this advice on my octavia and the airbag lights out! Very happy

Whils I use and appreciate the expertise of many a local independent, I have seen them struggle to remove the Octy headlights, amongst other things. I tend to stick to servicing etc where the general engines are all the same and take anything involving more complicated to a dealer.....
