Yes I agree with you in principle but in Australia that is Soccer and this is Football and it will never change in the minds of Australians.

I have never been to a game. If I can find out where one is on I will make the effort for you (with camera).

Said like a true colonial -no disrespect chum - spent a few years in Rhodesia ,where women made food ,whilst we drank beer .

My 8 year old daughter loves football and every Saturday morning we go football training. She is in the school football team and when she is 9 years old she will have trials with Crystal Palace, Barnet, Arsenal and a local girls academy.

She is very talented and plays with both feet and has been spotted by some scouts but as she is only 8 she can't join anyone.

Tell her to go for it. The blonde girl in the second photo is 13 years old. She plays on Saturday morning in my sons U14 team then plays in the afternoon in a first grade womans team against people who are much bigger (obvious I think) and probably in many cases twice as old.

Long lens (on a DSLR 400mm would be ideal). I use a 70-200 + 1.4x TC and it's just not long enough really.

Monopod for stability because of the long and heavy lens.

Watch the backgrounds.

Be careful about where the sun is and constantly check your exposures. I usually meter off the white uniforms if the sun is shining otherwise they are easy to blow out.

If you want stumps flying just hold the shutter button down on continuous and hope.

Post the results.

Nice shots, I've only got a 300mm lens, and didn't go for a TC as it would rob me of a few stops of light, which I think I would need as my camera isn't great in bad light! Will defo post the results!
