chip express tuning box

Featured Replies

i had my heart set on a remap for my fabia ! but have been doing a little research and came across the chip express tuning box..

it offers a half decent torque and bhp increase

but it mentions something about self altering the box to accomodate (sp?) further modification..(which i will be doing)

has anybody ever done this ? ive tried using the search but had no joy what so ever :(

regards

austin

Looking at thier website, it looks very similar to the Dragon tuning box I had fitted to the Roomster. It had a "jumper" inside that meant you could select one of 7 different options by moving the jumper up or down two paralell rows of 7 pins by bridging two pins.

I'm at work @ the moment, but if I still have the pic of the inards at home I'll post it u[p as it'll make more sense :giggle:

id appreciate that !

more to the point though. was it any good ?

did "turning it up" make much difference?

is it safe for the car?

and will it work alter the ecu to suit other mods etc ?

Bang for buck very good. SWMBO had me take it off the Roomster though as it made it "too fast"

Dvere's PD105 Roomster made 138bhp on the rollers @ JKM running my old Dragon Box

All the box can do is overfuel the engine, and the adjustable jumper is basically just overfuelling it a little bit all the way through to a lot :D

It can't change any ECU settings and realistically it won't accomodate for any mods at all.

I have had both on My fabia, Currently i have a P torque re-map which i'm very happy with, but before i had a Dragon Tuning box. The Tuning box did work but in a very crude way, there was quite a bit more smoke than a remap and there was a very noticeable surge about 2200 rpm where the box kicked.

This annoyed me and my passengers to distraction. If i were you, i would use a remap from one of the site sponsors, declare it to your insurance and enjoy the new found performance.
