How do the wing mirrors move down automatically when put in reverse?

Featured Replies

I have a 1.2 TSI DSG (automatic) Elegance.

i've read in the manual that the wing mirrors automatically point downwards when you put the car into reverse so that it helps you to see your position when reversing into parking bays etc.

Does anyone know how this works?

I haven't got one to test but from memory if you select L on the wing mirror adjustment switch and put the car into reverse it should dip the mirror for you.

Also make sure the option is ticked in the maxi-dot.

Thanks

I've set the wing mirror to 'L' but I am not sure how to set the Maxi Dot option to 'Ticked'.

Also, does this come as standard on the 1.2 TSI DSG (automatic) Elegance or does it have to be an add-on?

You need electric front seat with memory.

You need electric front seat with memory.

That's what I understood.

However I tried the recommended method with the mirror operation set at BOTH and at INDIVIDUAL (SE) Nothing happened, the mirror stayed where it was!!!! I don't think we can get this option in the UK.

Very strange

Manual says the wing mirrors dip if you switch the position to L.

It also says the seats can be automatically set to change position so that another person doesn't have to jiggle about trying to get it back into a position they had previously..

Is it truly not available in the UK?

I would be keen to have this facility on my 1.2 DSG Elegance.

It may be an idea for you to download the Yeti brochure. It is available as a .pdf file as is the owners manual and, on P71, it says that the mirror position is stored with the seat position memory. Unfortunately, as the brochure omits any mention of electric seats, it is an option not available in the UK at the moment.

Just as a matter of interest, our 2009 Golf Plus SE came with the folding electric mirrors as standard, and the n/s mirror tilted in reverse when turned to 'L' , if you didn't want it to you left it on the centre setting. Perhaps this feature will be on the Yeti when we finally get electric folding mirrors in UK! There were several other functions standard on the SE which are extras on the Yeti, such as Park assist, light assistant etc., but no electric memory seats. It had a similar maxidot system to the Yeti for controlling certain options.

Funny how the SE grade means different things to each manufacturer in the group.

Firstly you need Electric Memory Seats

Then there is an option in Maxidot which enables the mirror to move (in convenience iirc)

You then leave the mirror control on 'L' when you then select reverse the passenger mirror dips down.

To control the seats moving you have to do the following

Put ignition on (not engine)

Move the seat to desired position

Move exterior mirrors to desired position for normal driving

Press Set followed by a number (1,2 or 3 depending which one you want)

You will hear a bong

Switch off ignition remove the key and then press the unlock button on the key. This has to be done within 10 secs or it wont work.

You will then hear another bong.

Those settings are now stored on the Key. Repeat the process for the Other key if thats for your wife etc.

You will find now that, if for example your wife has been driving, when you unlock the car with your key as soon as you open the drivers door the seats and exterior mirrors will move to your setting. The only one that doesn't move is the interior mirror.
