Hi, at the moment I am running Weitec Hicon GT coilovers on my mrk octy VRS and the bloody things are catching on my off-side wheel arch.

My question is- what size tyres are people using? mine are 225/45 r17 and the coilovers are not slammed, why is it catching?:wall:

Cheers

Chris

Whats your offset on your wheels?

They were standard vrs alloys last time i saw him, so i'm sure they still are lol

strange i ran 18's same ofset and 225 40 18 and no catching and mine was slammed on the same coilovers

Just a thought, could it be a tracking issue??? Only a guess :)

might also be the bushes that are shot. or powerflex ones that have poped out?

on std spiders I wouldnt of ever seen them catching. no matter how low you go.

Chris it might be worth taking it to Northeasten tyres and doing a free laser alignment check and seeing what they pick up, done it before myself and it never cost me owt, they alway ask if they want you to sort it just say no lol

I've got some TT bushes waiting to be fitted, so that might help?

Worth a shot! they are catching on the left corner of the wheel, just before the arch liner finishes.

I have the JOM coilies and the sidewalls on my 205/50's are very close to touching.

Will be fitting 18s this weekend with 215 wide tyres so have some 5mm spacers to be on the safe side

And Bruce's special prize goes to billy2981! looks like the offside rear wish bone bush is shot.

Tracking is all good.

Cheers for that fella's, this is one of the main reasons I stick with Skoda's  now just need to find some one cheap to fit them.

Didnt the garage that fitted your coil overs check the rest of the front suspension over when they carried out the work?..................bad practice if they didnt.

Right, had my TT bushes popped in the tracking checked again and STILL the bloody wheel is catching on the offside but not the near, one last try, any more ideas? this is going to be something really simple, I've checked and replaced everything I think it can be! the car is like new underneath.

Will only 1 thing comes to my mine :'(

If you have change all that can be and its still doing it and yet guys with the same setup dont get it,then to me its pointing to your cars been hit in the past and some alignment is out of wack :'( hope that is not the case but kinda looking like it.

And if you can it would be good if you can take some pics of its and post them here to.

Had the car fully checked when I bought (4 years ago!) no damage what so ever but I did belly the car on a speed hump 2 weeks ago hard, not happyemoticon-0106-crying.gif

I will take some fresh pictures but have checked the ride height on both sides and all the same.

One thought is could someone have forgotten to have replaced any parts on the top of the weitecs like the inner nut holding the spring cap rubber top mount and bearing to the strut?

Have you checked the drop on the weitecs that side compared to the other side? count the threads exposed under the platforms

Probably not that but just to be sure.

Been to the garage today and had the tracking looked at again, all ok! then had it up on the ramps and a good look underneath, all looks fine.

Had new front wishbone rear bushes replaced, measured the drop height on all four wheels, the same.

Can not really see if the there are any bolts missing from with coilovers, the top mounts look good.

Is there anything else I've missed?

Thanks for the help so far guysemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Cheers Chris.

You really need to post some pics of the arch position (both good and bad sides) and get some pics from under the arch too looking at the suspension strut.

when you state drop height where are you measuring?

Have you measured from the centre of the arch to the ground on both sides of the car on flat ground? I would doubt that the car is level if you are hitting arch one side.

I am more suspicious that if the spring platforms are the same height, then something could be missing from the above the spring so the car chassis is sitting lower as i mentioned before possibly the inner strut nut. get the measurements from each side of arch to the ground which will prove the height is different one side or not as the case maybe.
