Hi Tia,

What OS are you running?

It's vista....I have tried to go back to a restore point but on the other profile of course there aren't any yet

What is the error message exactly?

What is the error message exactly?

it says

The user profile service failed the logon

User profile cannot be loaded

Are you able to create a new profile and then copy the old one over the top, hopefully it will fix your issue, but then again it could still fail.

PM me if you need a bit more information on how to do this.

You may also be able to repair the existing one. It needs a bit of registry editing from another account with Admin rights, but I've generally had success with it.

See this link HERE ad follow the steps in Option 1.

I've had this a few times. I think an update caused it, as a few days later after another update all was well again.

I did nothing other than restart/log off log on again. Might take 2 or 3 goes, but once you get back in, vista can repair it if you make some changes to your profile (change wallpaper, log off, change back at login).

A new profile is overkill if you can log on.
