What do "sun safe" glasses look like

Featured Replies

Hi folks. I am new to this forum and in about 14 days I'll be an owner of one skoda octavia combi elegance 1.9TDI-PD. Today I went to the dealer to see my car (it has already arrived) and i loved it. A great looking car.

However there was something that was strange to me. I ordered this option "Sun safe glass", but the rear windows looked just like the front ones. They weren't darker. Yeah it was in the basement and not on a day light, but they looked just the same. The guy said "yeah, they look like ordinary windows, but must be special". I expected to have tinted windows... one cannot choose both options "sun safe" and "sun set".

My question is has somebody seen an octavia with this option and better if someone owns one could you please show me a photo of yours? I searched in the internet but there isn't such photo or at least they don't say if it is a sun safe or sun set glass. Is there a way to check what the glasses are - a kind of sign or code on them? What I am afraid of is that they might have put ordinary glasses by mistake and you know.. this option costs much.

Thanks a lot in advance

Never heard of the 'sun safe' windows but the sunset glass is only around twice as tinted as the std tint as can be seen below:

One way of checking would be to look at the sticker in the boot (and service book) and try to decipher what code is for the 'sun safe' glass. Option codes decoder

I think "Sun Safe Glass" is not offered in UK for some reason. However, thanks for the idea with the codes. I'll try it once I got the car.

the sun safe glass used to be available in places like portugal and it reduces the suns rays to stop the interior of the car from heating up on hot days.
