Changing Fabia tdi fuel filter Year2001

Featured Replies

Hello to all members.

Can anyone please advise how to properly remove and replace a new fuel filter element and what is the procedure for clearing any air from the diesel engine.

I find the owners handbook limited on information and have not been able to find a service manual.Haynes apparently have not the demand to publish one covering the fabia diesel.

regards Graham1 :)

Quite straight forward, four pipes on top, and in and an out on both supply and return lines. On the supply side just pinch up the clips and pull them back along the pipe a bit, then pull off the pipes. The return side you pull out the metal clip that goes in sideways under the plastic t piece (this is the fuel heater valve), carefully lift that up and off the filter.

Undo the phillips screw on the side enough that the filter is free, unclip the filter from the top (has a few spring retaining clips) and withdraw the filter. Slide in the new filter until it clicks into place, tighten the phillips screw and refit pipes.

You've not got to worry much on a PD about air, the electric priming pump sorts that out, just leave the ignition on for a few seconds before you start it.

Hope this helps
