Featured Replies

will these vw alloys fit on a fabia vrs? i have winter tyres I would like to put on a set of alloys so require the same fit as the standard vrs alloys i.e. 205/45/16. dont understand this offset, rim width malarky. VW alloys on ebay

90% sure they would. I have a set of 16" Bora SE wheels that fit straight on if that helps at all?

so they will fit my fabia then. just another general question what is the "offset" when lookin at alloys? i looked at a set of standard vrs alloys and offset is different to that of these vw ones. take the offset doesnt affect the fitment?

Offset is the same..45.

An exact fit

didnt buy those went ridiculus at the end. im just lookin for a cheap(ish) set to put the winter tyres that i bought the car with onto. im still confused about this offset. what is it? does it have to be exact to fit? Looking at these now look nicer and they are only 15 odd miles away from me which would be a lot handier that courier etc. same question as the start of the thread will these fit? also could someone explain wheel measurements just out of interest!

vrs alloys are 38 offset

They still fit I believe

been reading up on some website i think i understand now that a larger offset just means they will stick out a bit?

Lower offset (ET) = stick out more. Have a read of this

the offset is the distance between the centre of the wheel and the wheel hub face

WheelOffset.jpg

so a bigger offset and the wheel goes further in towards the strut...smaller and it goes out towards wheel arch...a similar wheel width and you can get away with prob 8mm ish offset either way..

the wheels you're looking at will need smaller profile tyres...

Wheels that fit your VRS.

5xPCD 100 is the hub size. ----------All the VW Golf mk 4 OK , All Mk1 Seat Leon , All Mk1 Audi A3, Most Ibiza's and Polos as long as they have PCD100 hubs, All Mk1 Audi TT . All Mk1 Octavia. These rims will fit ok but adjustments will be needed in tyre sizes, ask us later about that when you find the rims you want.

Sorry to but in but i might be trying a different set of 16" alloys on mine they are 5x100 but they have 205/55/16 tyres on

I know i should change down to 205/45/16 as the standard alloys but what problems would it cause if i left the bigger tyres on?

Your car wll look like a 4x4, your speedometer will under-read, acceleration will be worse, your front tyres might foul the inner wings, and your insurance could be invalidated for not runing the correct size tyres.
