Octavia 2003 electrical issues

Featured Replies

HI,

I have a 2003 Octavia 1.9 Ambiente, it seems lately to be getting a few electrical glitches. It started with the central locking being sort of hit and miss, then the driver side electric wing mirror is messing around, then the wipers are now not switching off, my mechanic replace the wiper switch but this did not work, with all the other problem he now thinks it may be the ECU, would the rest of you agree, and if so how much roughly would it be to get fixed?

Wiper problem is almost certainly caused by the rear wiper motor getting water inside, cost is approximately £70 from the dealers. Try unplugging it in the boot to see if it stops the fronts from working.

Your other problems could be either water ingress in the plugs inside the drivers door, a broken wire where it passes from the pillar into the door, or the micro switch which is built into the lock is also know to go faulty and can cause problems with the central locking. Does the interior light work when you open and close each door?

Sorry should have said it does not have a rear wiper, not sure about the light,

Sorry, thought only pre-facelift cars came without rear wipers, unless you are not in the UK?

Could be a dodgy wiper relay then.
