Your post doesn't say what type of Fabia it is, but our 53 plate 1.4 petrol cost 275 pounds at a Skoda main dealers in London last October.

anyone else had theres changed on there vrs??

anyone else had theres changed on there vrs??

The basic cambelt kit is about £110

Total inc a service for mine was approx £300 (indi mechanic)

I guess a main dealer could be £4-500

Add £30/40 or so if you want the water pump doing.

I paid £330 for the belt kit and labour.

I've just had the cambelt and waterpump done on my vrs and total cost was £275

I had it done at a vw specialist rather than the main dealer as they were wanting £400+ !!!

I've got mine booked in at Horton's in Lincoln in a couple of weeks time for a guaranteed £330 which they quoted me back in March which i think is pretty good considering they are a main dealer.

89k and it's never been changed? What year is the car?

Interval for replacement is 60k/4yrs.

I'd budget around £400 for it and get the waterpump done at the same time, and make sure that the tensioners are replaced too.

yer i agree, people overlook the waterpump etc.

In quite a few cases, it's actually this that causes failures and issues. And I've personally seen the tensioners fail, when the belt's been in fine condition.

And I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time that someone gets what they think to be a good deal and all that gets changed is the physical cambelt itself... :o

I had cambelt and water pump done for £185 inc VAT ;)
