Got this code 17544 on vag com - fuel trim bank 1 too lean. Had engine management warning light on and idling at 1200 rpm.

After many hours found the offending article - breather tube under inlet manifold with a hole in it sucking in air. Replacement part number is 06a 103 221. See link for pics - http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/214055/1411032.aspx#1411032. Gonna get to local vw dealer for part at weekend and fingers crossed this should sort it.
