kwl good luck i hope u beat some jap craps ass :giggle:

If stock I would expect high 16s, maybe with rear seats out. If remapped, that would be 200+bhp no? Then I would expect at least high 15s.

Not done one in the vRS but did a few in my old saxo VTS. My best time was a 15.2 dead

I feel if I'd have run after I stripped it out and fitted the fg panels and polycarbs I could have seen the 14s

maybe with rear seats out.

You'll be amazed at how heavy the rear seats in the Octy are, the folding back sections anyway (the seat squabs are light as anything).

We took the rear seats, spare wheel and tools out of Simons Octy at Combe earlier in the year and it saved a hell of a lot of weight, not great on a track though as the back end was skipping about in the corners.

As you say taking heavy parts out of the car particularly from the rear end can make the car prone to unexpected oversteer and back end 'skip' where it starts to feel a bit flighty and twitchy. If you are running 1/4 miles this is no problem and be quite a significant gain however come a track and it can all get a bit unpredictable. If you are looking for a longer term idea then try moving the battery to the rear of the car, to balance the weight a little better :)

Top gear done a test online (not sure if it was aired) where they got a bog standard Pug 207 gti (iirc) and done a lap with stig at the wheel. They then stripped about 150kg out of it, a significant weight considering the car is about 1300 kg Done the lap again and he ran the exact same time as the car might have been a bit quicker off the line but come the corners it was out of control and unsettled. It was in the wet though so the effects of lift of over steer were made greater

I have found good handling gains from removing weight off the front and transferring to the rear - mainly the battery. I don't really suffer from too light a back end thankfully. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough. I often have the spare wheel in the boot as well though, but from this friday the battery is going in there from the boot floor, so I will be a bit lighter again.....

Also, passenger seat was removed for my 13.7 run. I tell you what, golf GTI front seats are not light! :D

Hybrids are designed to be a direct replacement so yes they should but with a performance exhaust mani this can help spool and increase power :D

It is a nice mod list :D

Mike

exhaust mani, yeah k03s hybrid looks the same and fits the same as standard, just the inards are different. mani's are meant to make a nice difference on them

do you know if they do an equal length mani for the hybrid?

not bad mate!

i expect the extra traction helps! i can run a terminal speed of 96 but only do a 15.21. seems to be a higher TS than some but traction from the line is my main downfall!
