Oooh, shiney :giggle:

Seriously though, top job mate, and I'm also a big Porsche man (sigh, maybe one day...). Now that I'm back on dry land, I'm dying to get some detailing done :) The metal I work on is usually much more humble though, although I have been offered to do a two-tone red and white Ford Anglia B) Might approach my old boss too...he has 2 993's (a Turbo and a Carrera), a Jag XK150, Lotus Elan +2, 5.7l Cobra replica...more interesting than my dad's Polo :D

All fun and games, like you say

You can have just as much fun working on the more humble metal mate, granted it's nice to work on something a little more flash but it's all about the before and afters.............sounds like your boss likes his metal though and if you did one I am sure it would lead to others..........

im looking forward to the next detail write up now, R32 is it? :)

Yeah it's 'Hedges' MK5 R32 with a few choice mods, may well write it up tonight but more than likely will be later on during the week.........

True, the transformation is what it's all about. My dad's black 9N Polo was in poor shape, but 4 days graft later, it was like a gleamy wet mirror B) Got a lot of satisfaction from that. Unfortunately he didn't listen when I explained how to look after it, so it's a tad swirly again... He wants me to do it again when he sells it though

I really would like to branch out more and turn detailing into a more regular thing, instead of just doing the cars belonging to me, my parents and a couple of close mates. Not like a proper job, but more like a (slightly) profitable hobby. Thing is, I study away from home, which limits how much I can do :S Got to start somewhere though.

With most people you can only advise them what to do and unless they are maintaining there motor with you then there is little you can do, it's up to them but there is always the chance of some repeat work............. :smirk:

I think doing the odd motor here and there is fun but if you did do it as a business you would really have to make it work and push hard, much respect to the Pro's out there doing it day in day out, for me I like my day job too much to give it all up............. :p

That's right enough, if he'd stuck to his old sponge and one bucket routine then it'd undoubtedly be looking a lot more shabby by now. It's not too bad really, considering it's his workhorse.

Agreed! It wouldn't work here on the island, predictably the market is just not big enough. Besides, I'm busy studying to become a marine engineer :D

Thanks............

Z2 is a sealant so always apply this first, then apply your wax over the top, to be honest it's not really needed and you can just layer Z2 on top of each other, Z8 does the rest...........

thats great, thanks for that. may look into getting some, managed to pick up some dodo red mist to give it a try
