what would you pay?

Featured Replies

ok guys as some of you know i have been developing a bolt on large vented brake kit for the felicia, its taken a while due to being on sticks for a fair bot of this year but i am finally happy that i have all the bits needed to fit 260mm vented disks and calipers straight on to a felly with no maching or alterations at all. if you can change your own brake pads you can fit this ... etc etc etc

it is a limited market i know and i dont want to get rich doing it but i were to want to sell a few kits what sort of price do you think would be fair etc. as far as i know there is nobody else doing this in the uk at least.

now a kit would include

2x new discs (quinten hazel)

2x brake calipers (would have to be a choice of recon units or possibly new)

set of mintex pads in either std or 1144/1155 for track use

kit of bolts to fit and idiot proof instructions

will need 14" wheels to clear the calipers and there would be an option of sourcing your own calipers if you wanted to use second hand ones.

i'm not too bothered if i sell any as i have a set on my road rally car now which is why i did so much hunting around to sort it but if it would help out others too i would put some kits together..

OR i can sell the disks and a fitting kit and the buyer can source their own calipers (instructions given) for around £70 posted

thoughts please

as i re read that i missed off that the discs and std pads will be costing me around £90 without calipers so not going to be mega cheap

Ok i think i could sell the disks with a fitting kit and instructions for £70 delivered with trackable courier delivery.

this would mean that calipers would have to be sources by the buyers but also allowing the option of using good used ones (I could not supply second hand units for use incase there was an unseen problem).

along with the instruction would be a parts list allowing for replacement parts and where they are sourced from etc.

disks are currently quinten hazel but i am trying to source them in mintex too (purely as i prefer mintex brakes).

pics tomorrow eve hopefully if my camera works.

hello jimbo, i missed this thread because i haven't been around for a few weeks, what's the cost of that kit with recon calipers?

just thought of something regarding this, is there any clearance issues on full lock when using larger calipers like those, some of the combinations of disc and caliper i've tried foul on the track control arm on full lock

full lock mate. i have a set of disks on ebay now and i think i will just let the buyers source the calipers themselves

what about when the car is on it's wheels? i'm pressuming that's on a 4 post lift in that pic? i tried some subaru 4 pots on my pick and they fouled th tca

Up for a set of discs and fitting kit. Finally got a heavy duty cover and paddle clutch made hopefully it will take the torque- just fitted. Bigger brakes now needed, it goes good and tom`s coilovers work well. 02j not an easy fit. Surplus tdi golf now.

yeah my standard brakes are hugely overworked now so i need to do something about it or it will end up killing me... the guy at my local motor factors said "one set of felicia brake pads and what else?" i'm on my third set this year!!!

Its on a 2 post lift there tom, so its on full droop, and as the weight pushes the wheel upwards the clearance increases.

the scooby 4 pots are huge i use scooby 2 pots on mine and have just enough clearance.

i honestly cannot believe the differance they have made to mine they will lock the 185/55/14 michelins at 50 mph if you push hard enough and i've not had any fade yet.. lol the road outside work now looks like the start line of a GP :giggle: black lines everywhere.
